Terms, licence and refunds
Plain terms for a plain app. Last updated 22 October 2026.
The agreement
These terms are between you and LEX GLOBAL IT S.R.L. (Romania, "we") and cover the PlainJPG Windows app and this website. By installing or using PlainJPG you accept them. The Microsoft Store version is additionally covered by Microsoft's Standard Application License Terms and store policies.
Free trial
The version downloaded from this site converts 25 images for free, with every feature. After that it asks for a licence key. The trial is for evaluation; reinstalling to reset it is not permitted.
Licence
- A licence costs $15 (plus VAT where it applies) and is paid once. It is personal to the buyer and may be activated on 2 PCs you own or use. Companies buy one licence per user.
- You may use PlainJPG for any purpose, personal or commercial, on those PCs. You may not resell, share, publish or reverse-engineer the licence key or the app.
- Updates to PlainJPG 1.x are free for licence holders. A later major version may be a paid upgrade; we would say so clearly before you buy.
- The Microsoft Store version is licensed through Microsoft on the devices linked to your Microsoft account and needs no key.
Refunds
If PlainJPG does not do what you needed, email support@plainjpg.com within 14 days of a purchase made on this site and we refund it in full, no questions asked. The licence key is then deactivated. Purchases on the Microsoft Store follow Microsoft's refund policy and are requested through your Microsoft account.
Your files
PlainJPG converts your files on your computer. By default it writes a copy and leaves the original untouched; the "replace the original" option moves the original to the Recycle Bin after the copy is written. You are responsible for your files and your backups. Keep originals of anything irreplaceable.
No warranty, limited liability
PlainJPG is provided "as is". We do our best to make it reliable, but we do not promise it is free of errors or that it will work with every file or on every PC. To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim related to PlainJPG is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits rights that consumer law gives you and that cannot be waived.
Third-party components
PlainJPG includes open-source software under its own licences, listed on the open-source components page. HEIC and AVIF decoding uses Microsoft's codec extensions, which are installed separately from the Microsoft Store under Microsoft's terms.
Law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of Romania and the European Union. Questions, refunds and anything else: support@plainjpg.com. Company details: LEX GLOBAL IT S.R.L., Nr. 268B, Viișoara, Bistrița-Năsăud, 420006, Romania.
